Canadian Horses are the National Horse of Canada. They first arrived on Canadian soil in the 1600’s from King Louis XIV stable. They were used for everything by the settlers of New France, from plowing fields and hauling logs, to riding and pulling the family carriage to town and to church. They are elegant, powerful horses, as well as being very people oriented. They are typically 14-16 hands with the majority in the 15 hand range and are extremely versatile, being used for everything from English and Western pleasure to competitive riding and driving. The "Little Iron Horse" has many loyal admirers who wish to preserve the traditional horse of centuries ago.
